Bernie Shepard, CPA

As one of the founders of Dunbar, Cook & Shepard, Bernie has more than 35 years of public accounting experience.

Bernie, who is a native of Indianapolis, served three years in the U.S. Air Force following high school.  He then attended Butler University and graduated in 1966 with a degree in Business Administration, majoring in accounting.  He received the Indiana CPA Society Award for outstanding student in his graduating class.

Bernie then worked as an accountant for what is now Ernst & Young and as treasurer for a local wholesale company.  He received his CPA designation in 1971.  In 1974, Bill Dunbar, Ron Cook, and Bernie formed a partnership in what is now Dunbar, Cook & Shepard, P.C.  Bernie served one year on the Audit and Accounting Committee for the Indiana CPA Society.  Bernie became a registered investment advisor in 1997.

Bernie is a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and is very active in the East Indianapolis Sertoma Club.  In what spare time he has, Bernie likes to read, golf and play bridge. 

He and his wife, Rosie, reside on the northeast side of Indianapolis.  They have three children and three grandchildren.
